Frédéric Saulou

Frédéric Saulou

Background

Based in Brittany, Frédéric Saulou graduated in space and environmental design from LISAA and in object design from EESAB Rennes in 2013. After gaining experience within various studios, he founded his multidisciplinary practice, Frédéric Saulou Design Studio, the same year. Conceived as both a design and sculpture workshop, the studio explores design as a field of research and exchange, rooted in materials and their relationship to specific territories.

Signature

At the core of his practice lies experimentation, through which he develops a sensitive approach to form and material. Combining artisanal savoir-faire with industrial processes, each project is conceived as a singular piece, balancing simplicity and technical precision, at the intersection of function and sculpture.

Inspiration

His work draws from local resources, architectural heritage and post-industrial landscapes, notably explored through his project Domestiquer, developed following a residency in Anjou. Deeply engaged with mineral materials, he approaches stone through an intuitive and tactile process, informed by direct carving.
